ARM9 - Architecture Overview

The ARM architecture is one of the world's most widely available 32-bit microprocessors architecture and is an important part of modern System-On-Chip (SoC) designs. SoC's with embedded ARM7 and ARM9 CPU are now available in hundreds of variants from many different silicon manufacturers. The deeply embedded CPU in such SoC’s with it's internal busses requires sophisticated debug tools for Software development and testing.

Hitex supports the ARM9 architecture and provides all you need for the professional development of ARM9 based products. Our entry level tool, the Tantino for ARM, enables run-control software debugging with the JTAG interface of the ARM CPU. The high-end tool Tanto for ARM from Hitex and the extension module Tanto PortTrace for trace capture supports complex program flow analysis and fast program download.

For the developers who want to migrate from the 8- and 16-bit microprocessors to the ARM9 microprocessors and for developers who would like to familiarize with the ARM9 architecture Hitex offers ARM Starter Kits.
This enables the low cost entry for new ARM9 projects with Hitex powerfull HiTOP5 IDE, GNU C compiler, documentation and our ARM instruction set simulator HiSIM.

Hitex supports a big variety of existing ARM7, ARM9 and ARM9E derivatives from many silicon manufacturers.
Check the current list of supported ARM derivatives to find your target system. If you are not able to find a solution that matches your needs, please contact your local sales representative for more information.

ARM9 with Tanto for ARM

Tanto is the high-end modular test and analysis tool from Hitex which supports various microcontroller architectures.
The basic Tanto for ARM system consists of the universal Tanto Base module and an ARM-specific Port Link module (TantoPL-ARM) that allows the direct connection of the test and analysis tool to the JTAG port in the target system.
This gives you all run-control debug facilities like breakpoints, watchpoints, single-step, register and memory views that you need. Together with the HiTOP5 IDE, a Windows based environment, you have everything to compile and debug your application including RTOS support.
The optional Tanto PortTrace for ARM module extends the Tanto Base module and offers enhanced functions for debugging complex systems in real-time. It supports the on-chip Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETM) and adds a powerful hardware trace module.
