386 Architecture Overview

|< back

The 386 family of microprocessors ranges from the standard CPU cores 386DX and 386SX to the embedded microcontroller 386EX. Since 386DX and 386SX nearly disappeared in modern applications, Hitex concentrates its tool support on the 386EX.

The static Intel386EX microprocessor is designed for embedded applications that require high integration and low power. Key features include: PC compatibility, power management, low-voltage operation, and on-chip integration of numerous common peripherals such as interrupt controllers, chip selects, counters and timers.
