Especially in cases of security-critical applications, a test coverage analysis is required. Hitex is presenting an add-on module called DCoverageXC, using which the powerful high-end emulator DProbeXC can be augmented for coverage analysis. Coverage analysis is a dynamic testing technique for analysing code and data flow. On the one hand, one can tell whether all the parts of the code are executed (code coverage), and on the other, one can test whether all the data is used in the manner desired (data coverage).

The module DCoverageXC simply plugs onto the DProbeXC. In addition to its OCDS functions, complete checking of all the internal processor activities is provided by the DProbeXC, which is based on the emulation device from Infineon.

To record read/write accesses in the controller's entire address range, the DCoverageXC makes 16 coverage areas available, each with 128 kB. The coverage information can be read in real-time without interrupting the recording.
