FireSpy protocol support

Starting with software version 2, a new type of view has been added to the set of Recorder views: the Protocol View.

Using the Protocol View, you will be able to analyze and debug protocols such as AV/C, SBP2 IP4 and IIDC.

Support for a specific protocol needs to be ordered separately. The following protocols are supported:

SBP2 Protocol
Using the SBP2 Protocol View, the user can view the different aspects of the Serial Bus Protocol 2, including management accesses, command agent accesses, Orb reads, data transfers (including data tables) and status writes (including unsolicited status). The FireSpy can analyze multiple SBP2 units and multiple logins simultaneously. All SBP2 transactions are displayed sequentially and the relation between them is displayed hierarchically.

AV/C Protocol
Using the AV/C Protocol View, the user can view the different aspects of the Audio-Video/Control protocol, including the allocation of channels and bus bandwidth, the connection of plugs and the Function Control Protocol (FCP) commands and responses. The audio/video Source Packets and their relation to the isochronous stream packets can be displayed.

IP4 Protocol
Using the IP4 Protocol View, the user can view the different aspects of the Internet Protocol version 4 over IEEE1394, including ARP packets, TCP connections, ICMP messages and UDP messages.

IIDC Protocol
Using the IIDC Protocol View, the user can view the different aspects of the Digital Camera Protocol, including control command register accesses and the isochronous streams that form the video frames.

Other protocols will be supported in the near future. The next protocols to be released are IP over 1394 and IIDC.

Under devolopment also is the 'FormatEditor'.This editor can be used to edit a script, that defines how packet data should be decoded and how it should be displayed on the screen. Using the FormatEditor you do not have to learn the script language. You just add field descriptions with desciptions to control the decode flow (switch, if-else,repeat etc), and edit their properties. The resulting format is displayed in the FormatEditor as a field-table and layout-picture while you are editing.
