On April 1st, 1999, Siemens Semiconductors became Infineon Technologies. The main areas of activity are: Automotive and industrial electronics, chips for wireless communications, ICs for security and smartcard applications, communications and multimedia chips and memory components. Infineon Technologies is currently also promoting their C500, XC800 (both 8051 based) and C166/XC166 as well as XC2000/XE166 families of microcontrollers and TriCore(TM).
