-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hitex Adapter Documentation V4.12 (18.05.2004) Installation Guide -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This self-extracting file contains the complete Hitex Adapter Documentation V4.12 as of May 18th, 2004. Extraction is simply done by starting adapter412.exe (Win95, Win98, Win2000, WinME, WinXP, Win NT - for other platforms please contact Hitex). You are prompted for an installation directory on a harddisk. Installation shouldn't take longer than 20 seconds on most computers.Minimum free diskspace required is 50 MBytes - 23 MBytes for the self extracting archive and appr. 27 MBytes for the current documentation. The archive may be deleted after extracting. In order to view the Adapter Documentation you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader >= 4.x installed on your computer. We recommend to upgrade to Acrobat Reader 5.x or 6.x, because the Adapter Documentation will take advantage of the new Acrobat features soon. For using the search function you need to check the box "Include option for searching PDF files and accessibility support" when downloading Acrobat Reader from the Adobe Webpage. It is not possible to add this function to an already installed Acrobat Reader without SEARCH function. For further information on Acrobat Reader please refer to the Adobe Webserver HTTP://WWW.ADOBE.COM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using the Adapter Documentation -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A double click on the entry page adapter.pdf starts Acrobat Reader, displaying photos of the currently available Hitex emulators, separately arranged on "cards".By clicking on the labels at the side of the cards you may select the manufacturer of your processor. Each photo of an emulator has got a link to a "derivative selection", listing the different packages supported by the selected emulator and the adapters.Additionally on each card there is a search button. In order to use this search button you need to make some settings in the Acrobat Reader:Select FILE/PREFERENCES/SEARCH and check the "show fields" box.If you click on the search button you will get a selection of several fields where you may enter a search string. For the adapter documentation only the "Keywords" field is useful - you may enter full order codes (e.g. KZS486-S208A-P), taking you directly to the adapter datasheet, or just the beginning of an order code like KZS* which will result in a list of all adapters starting with KZS.... If you enter text after a wild-card this wildcard is just valid for a single letter. The last link to mention on the entry page is the "Contact Hitex" Button, presenting a complete list of all Hitex locations, phone numbers etc., and the international distributors chart. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One level below the entry page there are the derivative selections - showing you a complete table of all supported CPU derivatives and the packages. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By clicking on the package you intend to use you get to an adaptation scheme, showing you the complete path how to get from the emulator to your target system - or rather the multitude of adaptation technologies Hitex offers.By clicking on the boxes of the adaptation scheme you get the datasheets of the adapters, emulator probes, sockets and specs for Hitex emulation interfaces (Quad Connectors). Of course, all datasheets, tables etc. may be printed directly from Acrobat Reader or used separately by simply copying the files (the file names are shown on the upper left edge of the Acrobat Reader window) to somewhere else. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ACTUALITY OF CONTENTS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hitex is frequently developing new products and improving existing ones, so at the time our customers get this version of the adapter documentation products may have been added, changed or replaced. That's why we keep an always up-to-date version of the adapter documentation on our Webservers WWW.HITEX.DE / WWW.HITEX.COM. This version may be accessed online, so there is no need to download MBytes from our server just to make sure the product inquestion is still available or whether there are new adapters for a certain CPU. For viewing the online documentation you just need an Internet access, an up-to-date browser with the Acrobat Reader PlugIn / XControl installed. The only limitation of the online documentation is that there is no search function available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In this version all data sheet files located in the ../Data directory have been renamed to the Hitex Order Code with dashes etc. omitted. E.g. the datasheet file for a DZS164-M80-PFX will be named DZS164M80PFX.PDF. The current version V4.12 of the adapter documentation covers all Hitex emulators with the following exceptions: 1. The 8051 products are included in a separate HTML/JavaScript-based system which is available via WWW or on Hitex CDROMs. 2. Some adapters for AX186 are still missing (186EB/EC etc.) 3. JTAG tools (JProbe etc.) and the new "Tanto" systems will be added as soon as possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there are problems or questions concerning this documentation system please send an email to webmaster@hitex.de
