Building a safe and secure embedded world

"An Embedded World without software would not exist"

Making this world safe and secure

Embedded Software Engineer

Functional Safety as daily bread

Björn Assmann is Embedded Software Engineer at Hitex. The 36-year-old joined Hitex just over a year ago, but from the very beginning, he has been on the road with a lot of responsibility: He implements functional safety requirements in many customer projects and developments - almost exclusively in AURIX projects. "The AURIX family fascinates with its extreme performance and is increasingly the first choice for our customers' safety requirements thanks to a wide range of safety features," says Björn. He joined Hitex in October 2017 and, thanks to his training (studies in Telecommunications/Electronics engineering and MSc in Information Technology), was able to contribute very quickly to the success of various projects.

Such a project can sometimes become very extensive and complex when he is - as just now - working on a task in the field of battery management, in which almost all activities for the softwareare to be provided by him, from linker files, firmware, application software, integration of the safety libraries to acceptance and certification. Only one software module, project management, the hardware design, reviews and software tests make the colleagues from the corresponding teams. What also clarifies, "...that without reasonable teamwork, such a project is not to be realized!

What makes his job at Hitex so interesting is also the variety. For example, when Björn presents safety solutions from and with the AURIX at an AURIX roadshow in front of an audience, or presents Hitex solutions at Bosch as a "GTM partner" at Embedded World. In addition, there are customer contacts and the exchange and cooperation with colleagues.

Privately Björn keeps fit by dancing: 3-4 times a week Standard and Latin and his favorite dance is the Bachata. If there is still time left, he goes to the gym twice a week for an hour.

More than a Job!

Björn thinks that he was "From the beginning well received in the Hitex team and thanks to many contacts and projects in the meantime internationally very well connected" . Björn feels very comfortable in the good working atmosphere at Hitex. The "mixture of younger and more experienced colleagues in the team is perfect". He also found his 8-week trainee stay at Hitex UK in Coventry particularly successful: completely new experiences, new impressions and a lot of interesting knowledge - details and facts - about the AURIX family. In addition he made very good progress with his English skills - what more could you ask for?

In order to work at Hitex as a software developer, you should have a degree in engineering (computer science, information technology, etc.) or a comparable education with appropriate professional experience. Best still with a focus on embedded systems and knowledge in the field of microcontrollers.
