Building a safe and secure embedded world

Optimizing energy use

In the embedded world, energy efficiency generally entails reducing electricity consumption, which applies not only to small battery-powered applications, but also to larger systems requiring high performance with minimum use of energy. This makes it crucial to identify savings potential and to carry out optimizations.

However, even the most economical microcontroller has energy requirements and should only be activated when it is really necessary. Standby mode often consumes more power than operation and if certain software sequences consume an unnecessary amount of power, the energy-saving potential of the microcontroller is quickly cancelled out.

For example, the Keil ULINKplus adapter connects the USB port of your PC to your target system via JTAG and allows you to measure performance in your application in addition to debugging.

Lay the foundation for energy optimization already in the device design to analyze the total power consumption and its distribution in the early development stage. In this way, code optimization can also be carried out in line with low-power controllers and real consumption minimizations can be achieved.

Hitex has the relevant expertise and can use the proper methods to optimize and unlock the added potential of program sequences even at the design stage.
